HOTEL BOOKING ADVICE · SYLHET
The best hotel in Sylhet for your trip depends on where you need to be, who is travelling and what is included in the price. A large pool or an attractive photo is only part of the decision.
This guide helps you compare rooms and booking terms. For named properties and neighbourhoods, use our Sylhet city hotel comparison. For WebSylhet’s editorial recommendations, read our five-hotel shortlist.
Start with your itinerary
Write down your main destinations before comparing hotels: family addresses, business appointments, an event venue or the places you want to explore. Check the route from each property rather than assuming that a city address means everything is nearby.
If you arrive late or leave on an early flight, ask about transfers and check-in arrangements before booking. If your trip is mainly a relaxing break outside the city, our hotel or resort guide can help you choose the type of stay.
Compare the right room
For a family
Check the permitted number of adults and children, the actual beds and the extra-bed policy. Ask about room access, lifts and whether adjoining rooms are available if you need them.
For business
Ask about a desk, Wi-Fi, laundry and any meeting space you need. Confirm the room location if a quiet place to work or sleep is important.
For a short visit
Location and arrival arrangements may matter more than facilities you will not have time to use. Confirm luggage storage and check-out timing if your onward journey is later.
Ask what the quoted price includes
Request the total for your dates, room type and guest numbers. Two prices can look similar while including different meals, cancellation terms or extra charges.
| Item | Question to ask |
|---|---|
| Taxes and service charges | Is this the final amount payable? |
| Breakfast | Is breakfast included for everyone in our booking? |
| Children and extra beds | What additional charges apply to our group? |
| Pool and gym | Is access included, and will they be open on our dates? |
| Transfers and parking | Are these available, and what do they cost? |
| Cancellation | When can we cancel or change dates, and what is refundable? |
Read recent reviews carefully
Look for patterns across recent reviews rather than deciding from one unusually good or bad account. Repeated comments about cleanliness, noise, maintenance or staff responses are useful questions to raise with the hotel.
Make sure the feedback concerns the same property and, where possible, a similar room type. A review of a restaurant or event may not tell you much about an overnight stay.
Check photos and facility details
Ask to see the room category you are booking, including its bathroom and bed layout. Promotional photos may show a suite or a facility that is not included in the lowest room rate.
If pool access, a gym, parking or step-free access is essential, confirm the arrangements directly. For accessibility needs, ask about the route to your particular room and the bathroom layout.
Before you pay
- Confirm the property name, address, dates, room type and guest numbers.
- Get the final price and cancellation terms in writing.
- Check the booking channel and payment instructions carefully.
- Keep the confirmation and a direct contact number for the property.
- Tell the hotel about any late arrival or essential requirements.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best hotel in Sylhet?
There is no single choice that suits every visitor. Compare location, the actual room, final cost and the facilities you will use. Our city comparison and editorial shortlist can help you narrow the options.
Should I choose by star rating?
Use it as one piece of information. Check the room and service details that matter to you, and do not assume every advertised rating comes from the same classification system.
Is the cheapest online rate the best value?
Compare the total and terms. Breakfast, extra guests, taxes, transfers and cancellation conditions can change the value of a quote.
Can I request help planning the trip?
Yes. Use our trip planner to share your dates, group size and preferences. This sends an enquiry and does not confirm a hotel reservation.
